The Mohitnagar variety of Arecanut is renowned for its high yield and is primarily cultivated in West Bengal, although it can thrive in all Coconut & Arecanut growing regions. It typically starts bearing fruit once it reaches a height of 2 meters, which occurs approximately 1.5 to 2 years after planting. The plant features a medium-thick stem, a partially drooping crown, and orange-yellow oval to round-shaped nuts. One of its notable characteristics is the higher level of uniformity in fruiting and nut size. The bunches are well-positioned, and the nuts are loosely arranged on spikes, promoting uniform development. On average, each plant yields about 3.67 kg of dry kernels per year.
