Mahogany/Mahagani/ Toon Plant

The mahogany tree, a grand semi-evergreen species, boasts a towering height of up to 200 feet (61 m.) and features large leaves of about 20 inches (50.8 cm.) in length, although they typically grow to around 50 feet (15.2 m.) or less. Its dense and strong wood enables it to withstand powerful winds, making it suitable as a street tree or for forming attractive canopies in medians. Mahogany wood displays a straight, fine, and even grain, with a reddish-brown color that darkens and develops a reddish sheen over time when polished. This wood’s workability and remarkable durability have earned it favour in crafting cabinets and furniture, historically renowned for producing wide boards from traditional mahogany species due to the tree’s generous girth.
